New Hamina Features Extravaganza
If our dev team was an espresso machine, they'd be brewing triple shots while the rest of us are still grinding beans. While most of us are still reading last month's release notes, our product already boasts five more features, and our development team shows no signs of slowing down.
Our CEO's LinkedIn account has become the feature sneak-peek central, dropping feature announcements faster than we can update our user guides. So consider this blog post your official catch-up session on the latest exciting updates on upcoming features to Hamina Network Planner and Planner Plus.
1. LIVE Wi-Fi client device troubleshooting
- Where is the client?
- Is it responding to ping?
- What's the current RSSI?
- What about data rates (uplink/downlink)
- SNR?
- Roams and their impact?
Site survey and planning tools will no longer be just planning or survey tools. They will evolve to cover the entire life cycle of the network. See Jussi's WLPC presentation, which covers this and many other aspects of upcoming life cycle management.
The Live Clients feature will be available in Hamina Wireless Network Planner Plus by December at the latest. It will support major enterprise cloud vendors.
2. Snappy CABLE TRAYS!
Anyone need more control over cabling planning?
This upcoming feature will allow you to define cable tray routes on your network plan and Hamina will automatically snap your cables to follow along the tray route. Oh, so snap snap snappy! 😎
3. Connect network devices to IDFs and switches on neighboring floors
This was our second most requested feature! If you have a multi-floor building, you can now connect your access points, security cameras, environment sensors, desk phones, etc. to any of the switches and IDFs - even those on neighboring floors.
Oh, and the cable lengths are even calculated through the walls as well.
4. Instant Wi-Fi Planning after a Site Survey
Step 1: Quickly survey an existing Wi-Fi network
Step 2: Accurately plan a new network, or improvements to current.
No need to define the walls and other attenuating objects. Soon, Hamina Wireless Planner will be able to convert your site survey measurements into a predictive model.
The "site survey to predictive model" feature will be available in Hamina Network Planner before the end of the year.
5. Smart Cropping and Map Rotation
The Smart Crop-feature is a good example of how an autonomous product development works:
- Customers and thus product management ask for cropping.
- Designer makes a great design.
- SW architects and designer decide to make the feature a lot better than we at PM ever would've thought: They decided to include the ability to "un-crop / re-crop" the image at any time. Excellent.
Coming to Hamina Wireless Network Planner this year still.
7. It's so much FASTER now! What did you do?
Our wireless heatmaps now generate between 2 to 20x faster. And yes, this update has already been released.
We optimized not only the speed of the heatmap calculations (typically multiple X speed gain) - but also how much is calculated (another multiple X). Not just faster, but greener as well.
Phew!! That's it for now. 😎✌️
